We Love Disneyland

I have really been enjoying playing with the SC April Kit. The spring colors mixed with bold primary colors have given some great creative options.

Our family went to Disneyland last fall and today I realized that I hadn't done a single layout about the trip. So, today was the day to pull out a few favorite photos from the trip and this is what I came up with. The SC add-on had some crochet flowers in it that I couldn't wait to use. They added a fun finishing touch to the layout. On another note, if you like fried rice, you really should make THIS soon. I think I've mentioned it before, but it's worth mentioning again. It has a perfect garlic flavor!

You Can Fly!

A few weeks ago I took these photos of my girls' on a swing ride at a local carnival. I played around with some Pioneer Women actions (you can visit this link and download FREE actions!) and House of 3 frames (you can visit this link for a fabulous tutorial on adding the frames to your photos.) After finishing the photos edits, I printed out the photos.Once the photos were printed, I pulled out my Scrapbook Circle April kit to see what I could put together. It was a lot of fun putting this layout together.I love how the Dear Lizzy and October Afternoon papers go so well together. Love the combo of the bright and happy patterns. Thanks to Sketchy Thursdays for this sketch because it was the starting point for the layout.Hope you are having a great evening!

Loving the Queen Bee

I was lucky enough to get a pack of 6 x 6 inch papers of the Queen Bee line from Pink Paislee when I was at CHA. Really love the grey/yellow color combo!

I wanted to put a set of cards together for a friend's birthday and decided that Queen Bee would be perfect for the project.I kept the design simple and didn't add any words to the cards so that my friend can use them for any occasion. Can't wait to get a little more playtime with the Queen Bee!

Bringing Spring Inside

I've really been enjoying the beautiful spring weather we are having. It seems like everywhere I look, there are beautiful spring flowers. I decided that some of those beautiful flowers should come inside my house so I could enjoy them all day long.

While I was at IKEA a couple of days ago, I decided to browse the vases and found some that I really liked. They are about 7 inches high, cream colored and have different patterns on them. And a bonus: they were only $2 each!
I bought 8 and lined them along the window sill in my kitchen. They each have a couple of flowers in them.I'm thinking that once the fresh flowers die, I may replace them with artificial flowers. Then again, keeping the vases filled could be a great excuse to always have fresh flowers in the house.

Sketchy Thursdays 3.18 Sketch

When I saw the sketch from Sketchy Thursdays this week I was excited to see that it used mist. I just picked up some new glimmer mist last week, so I was ready for a reason to use it!

Here's a look at the sketch.
Here's my take on the sketch.
I decided that it would be interesting to create a non-misted frame around the photos. I cut a piece of paper to the size I wanted the non-misted area to be. Then I stuck the cut paper to the cardstock with a tiny bit of adhesive so that it wouldn't slide around while misting. After spraying the mist, I just gently peeled up the paper and attached my photos and patterned paper.I like the effect of this technique and will probably try to use it again sometime. What do you think?

Thanks for the great sketch!

Most of the supplies for this layout came from the upcoming Scrapbook Circle April kit.

Organizing My Scrapbook Room

I've spent time over the past couple of days cleaning and organizing my scrapbook room. I LOVE have things clean and organized. Now I just need to have my kids feel the same way about having things clean and organized!

While organizing, I came across some things that I want to giveaway to my fabulous blog readers! I have paper packs given to me at CHA of brand new paper (I can only use so much paper!), brand new ideas books, a couple of Scrapbook Circle kits and a couple other surprises. Stop by next week for the giveaway.

Yesterday, I worked on another little notebook. I guess I'm addicted to them right now. It's really fun to create a quick project that I can give to someone else.
I've been having fun playing around with the House of 3 transparent frames on my photos. I will have to share soon how to add these to your photos.
Still loving the Dear Lizzy line. I'm not usually into softer, more pastel colors, but the patterns are so happy and playful they just make the colors work for me.
Hope you are having a great weekend! We took the kids to a double feature at the drive-in movies last night (Diary of a Wimpy Kit and Percy Jackson) and didn't get home until midnight. So fun! And such a deal...it's only $16 for our family of 5 to get in and see both movies. I'm thinking that we need a quiet and early to bed night tonight!

Lizzie's Album

We have another birthday party today for my daughter, so that means another little album for her friend.

Here's a look at Lizzie's album.I used some of the new embossed coredinations paper from Cosmo Cricket for the black letter background of the cover. It was so fun to use. The entire cardstock sheet is black, but I sanded the embossed part to reveal the white core of the paper.

The inside is pretty basic. I trimmed down plain white paper and covered the inside chipboard pieces. For the back, I used more of that fantastic black cardstock. My daughter had fun sanding the paper too! Thanks for stopping by!

Everything came from the Scrapbook Circle March Kit. The white sanded frames around my photos are from this House of 3 kit.

Happy Birthday No. 10

My daughter needed a card to go with a birthday present today, so I quickly put this card together before she had to go to the party this morning.
I love how happy and bright these papers are from the Jillibean Soup Egg Drop line. The base of the card is Jillibean's black bean paper. It was fun to play with the contrast on the darker background with the lighter colored papers.

The "No. 10" was cut from the Jillibean Old World Cabbage Stew Spring Onions paper.Seriously loving all of those numbers. Lots of ideas going though my head on how to use this sheet of paper.

Question for you...do you always make a birthday card to go with your gift?

I'm not always very good about this. Especially when it's for a kid's birthday party. Sometimes I'm a little lame and just tell the recipient the gift is from me when he/she is about to open it. Seems like I should ALWAYS have a card with a gift considering the amount of paper I have around here. Sometimes though I just run out of time and it's a no-card gift.

The white inked frame around my photo came from here and the mini alphas are from Jenni Bowlin.
In my last post I talked about seeing the Dear Lizzy line at CHA and knowing that I *had* to have it. Well, I felt the same way about the Fly a Kite line from October Afternoon too. Love the bold and bright patterns!

For the 2nd notebook that my daughter and I put together for her friend's birthday, we used the fantastic Fly a Kite line mixed with a page from an old dictionary.

The definition that is showing is "birthday." I thought this was a fun touch since this notebook is a birthday gift! The covers are all cut from chipboard (6" x 6") and covered with paper. For the inside pages, I just cut plain white printer paper down to 5.5" x 5.5". I must say that I really love using my bind it all machine. It really makes putting custom books together so simple.I'm hoping this will be a place where my daughter's friend will enjoy drawing and writing.

The paper for this project came from the current March and upcoming April Scrapbook Circle kits.
The white frames I added to the photos came from House of 3 kits.

Dear Lizzy, I Love Your Paper

When I first saw the new Dear Lizzy line in person at CHA, I knew that this paper would be in my future. Really love the colors and the playful patterns. Now I have the paper and I am having so much fun playing with it!

This year, my oldest daughter and I have been putting notebooks together for her friends' birthdays. She has a birthday party tomorrow and we put this notebook together today. (We are working on 1 more and will post pics tomorrow.)
We covered a magnetic memo pad with cardstock (dotted Bazzill) and then dressed it up with a bunch of Dear Lizzy papers. On the inside, we glued a library pocket to the left side and the memo pad to the right side. We covered the memo pad with paper just to make it match everything else.My daughter had fun punching and placing the butterflies on the cover. We only glued down the center of the body so that the wings were free to "fly."

The rest of the gift will include another notebook plus a fun set of 50 markers I picked up at Target today.

Hope she likes it!

All of the Dear Lizzy paper will be in the April Scrapbook Circle kit and the edges on my photos came from this House of 3 kit.

Spring Banner

I had so much fun yesterday putting a spring banner together with the upcoming Scrapbook Circle April kit. The colors are so happy and the paper was so easy to work with.

When I put this together, I knew that both the front and back sides of the banner would need to be decorated because it was going to hang between candle holders on my dining room table. Since people will be sitting on both sides of the table, both sides of the banner needed decoration.

Here's a look at the front side of the banner.
I just taped the ribbon on the inside of the candle holders. All of the paper, the alpha, flowers, buttons, vintage dictionary page, clothes pins, ribbon, the chipboard bird and even the 6 canvas triangles are from the April kit.

Several of the circles came from this paper.
I love the the circles are not a perfect circle shape. I think that adds a little handmade charm to the paper. My circle and scalloped circle punches also came in handy for this project.

I had thought about spelling out "Easter" with the canvas, but decided that "spring" could be on display for a longer amount of time.

Here's a look at the back side of the banner.
I'm excited to have a little new spring decor around my house. Now I get to keep playing with the kit!
