So Very Thankful

Happy Friday to you!  Today I am thankful to be celebrating my husband's birthday today with breakfast at Liberty Market followed by the new Hunger Games movie. Should be a fun morning. I'm also thankful that I get to teach an art masterpiece lesson in my daughter's 3rd grade class this afternoon. Good times!

This week on the Glitz design team we were challenged to create a project with a thankful  theme. I'm always love reflecting on things I'm thankful for.

For this page, I printed off a few recent photos that represent a few things I'm thankful for. With the help of my Silhouette, I cut the title and triangles from white cardstock and then filled in behind the cutouts with patterned paper.

I had fun inking, stamping and stitching on this layout!

The focus of my photos is food + family. Yep! Two of my most favorite things.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend filled with great memory making with your family and friends.

Project Life >>> Week of September 8 - 14

Last week I realized that I was about 9 weeks behind on my Project Life album and decided that it was time to dedicate some time to cranking out some pages. Yikes! I don't mind being a bit behind, but I don't want to get too far behind on this album. I've caught up on about 5 weeks, so I'm feeling better.

Here's a look at our week of September 8. This was the week I did the Week in the Life photo project, so I had a lot of pictures to choose from. So nice!

Bedtime Reading /// Playing Marbles /// Going for a Run /// Barbieland /// Fun with Friends

Morning Breakfast Scene /// Smoothie /// Snack at Eegee's in Tucson /// New Car

There you go! Another week is complete. Happy day!

November Scrapbook Circle Sketch

Every month Diana puts together fabulous sketches for Scrapbook Circle and shares them on the SC blog. I always love seeing all of the different takes on the sketch.

Here's my take on the sketch for November:

I had so much fun putting this page together. All of the bits and pieces from the Home Sweet Home kit were spread all over my desk and it was easy to layer up everything onto my page.

My daughter and I go to the same salon we we both love it. (Need a salon in Chandler, AZ? Check out Flict!) I thought it would be fun to document one of our favorite places.

Want to play along with the sketch? Be sure to stop by the Scrapbook Circle blog for details and find out about the fun prize that is up for grabs.

Project Life >>> Week of October 27th

I seriously had so much fun putting this week's Project Life spread together. Since we had so many Halloween activities this week, I decided to use the Glitz Raven line for the whole spread. There were so many fun elements in this line which made putting things together really fun.

This week we were challenged on the Glitz Design blog to use Whatnots on our project. Whatnots are die cut shapes and cards that come in a package filled with lots of bits of goodness. The big pumpkin, owl, chevron tag and "love Halloween" card are all from the Whatnots package. If you want to check out more Whatnot inspiration, be sure to check out the Glitz blog this week.

Pumpkin Carving /// Trick or Treating // Birthday Boy /// Candy!

We Dressed Up! /// Iron Man /// Ms. Captain America /// 70's Bridesmaid /// Gandalf /// Zombie

We all had fun dressing up in our family this year. Ward and I don't usually dress up, but we did this year and loved it! I wore the bridesmaid dress that my aunt wore at my parents' wedding. Pretty cool that the dress has survived in a closet somewhere for over 40 years!

Thanks for stopping by today! Enjoy your weekend.

Project Life >>> September 1 - 7

It's been quite a while since I've posted Project Life pages. My scrapbooking time has been so limited lately and my PL pages haven't made it to the top of the list for a while. This past week I was able finally work on some PL pages. So fun! I really had a great time putting them together.

I still love that these pages help me record our family stories in a different way than traditional layouts. Both formats are great and I love the variety. This week started with Labor Day weekend and family getaway to Flagstaff and ended with a church campout in the pines. Love all of our time spent in cooler weather this week!

Tonto Natural Bridge /// Hiking /// L + W /// Friend's Birthday with the Neighborhood Ladies /// Campfire and S'mores

Flagstaff Extreme Ropes Course /// County Fair // Cute Note from Hannah

It was fun to relive this week as I put everything together. I'm so thankful for weeks like this where we can get away and spend more time together as a family.

Stitch Fix #8 >>> November

Hello! Yes, I'm still loving getting a box from Stitch Fix every month. I love that I'm not out in the mall shopping and cute clothes come to my door. Want to see what came in my box last week?

Dylan and Rose Ruthie Cross-front Side-ruched Top

Loved the burnt orange color, but thought the overall design was a little boring. I didn't like that I needed to layer a tank top under this. I don't know - nothing was really wrong with this, but I just didn't like it enough to keep it. Sent it back.

TCEC Donelle V-neck Button Up Cardigan

Okay, when I pulled this out of the box I thought that it was perfect. I really like the shade of green and that it was a longer sweater. But, sadly, when I tried it on, it just didn't fit right. I think maybe I needed a bigger size so that it would fit around my middle a little better without puckering weird. Sent it back.

Bay to Baubles Double Layered Mixed Coins Necklace

When I first saw this, I thought it might work, so I tried it on. But it was just so big and bulky around my neck. Just wasn't something that I could see myself wearing very often (if at all!) Sent it back.

Lasome Pacific Chevron Print Skirt

This was a really cute skirt, but I already have one very similar to this one. Mine is navy and white and this one is black and white, but the similarity made it so I didn't need this skirt. Sent it back.

Hawthorne Polka Dot Print 3/4 Sleeve Blouse

When I pulled this shirt out of the box, I instantly hoped it would fit right because I loved it. The classic navy + white polkas were perfect. Love the length of the sleeves and the buttons on the front of the shirt. Kept it!

Even though I only kept 1/5 of the items, I'm still very happy with this fix. I have a new shirt that  I love hanging in  my closet and I didn't spend too much since I only kept one item.

I've requested sweaters and a scarf in my next fix and I'm excited to see what they put together. Now we just need this Phoenix weather to cooperate and drop below a high of 85 degrees so I can wear that sweaters.

(The Stitch Fix links in the post are referral links. If you're thinking about signing up and use my link, I will get a referral credit. Thanks!)

Round and Round

I don't know about you, but as I'm getting older, my head and stomach are much less tolerant of amusement park rides. It's kind of a bummer, but at least I can enjoy watching my kids.

When we were at Disneyland last month during fall break with our friends, all 6 kids want to go on the teacups. I didn't even consider stepping foot on that ride! Instead I enjoyed taking pictures from the sideline.

It was one of the last rides we went on for the day, so of course, it was very dark. The photos I took were all blurry and a bit too dark, but I think it's actually fitting since the dark + blurred photo is how I would feel if I had ridden on the ride!

I had fun mixing a bunch of bits and pieces from the November Home Sweet Home Kit plus the My Happy Place add-on.  My favorite thing in the add-on is the exclusive Scrapbook Circle triangle stencil. I used it on this layout by misting it with gold mist behind the photo. I hoping it use it on more projects very soon.

Oh, and I used a couple of the new SC digital cut files. The geotags and thankful cards make an appearance on this page. Loving these new digi cuts!

Hope your Wednesday is fantastic!

Feathers!

Feathers are a really fun trend in scrapbooking right now and I was excited about our Glitz Design team challenge to use feathers on a project this week.

The Glitz Wild + Free line has a perfect selection of feathers and it was fun to use them on a page. There were lots of feather stickers + feathers on a whatnot journaling card to choose from.

A few weeks ago my daughter and her friend used my camera and went outside to do a photo shoot while taking photos of each other. Lucky me! I loaded the photos onto my computer and there were some really great images. The photo I used on this page was one of my favorites that the girls took.

I love the bright colors in this line and thought they would contract well with a black and white photo. What do you think?

For the journaling, I typed out a bunch of different "favorites" and then asked Audrey to fill in the blanks with her handwriting. It was a perfect way for her to get involved with the page and preserve what her handwriting looks like right now.

Wan to see more feather inspriation? Be sure to stop by the Glitz Designs blog this week!

P.S. Did you see that Glitz Designs has posted a call for a new DT in 2014? You can read about the details here. I've loved being a part of their team for the past 3.5 years! I'm not going to be applying this time because I have other things pulling for my time right now, but I highly recommend sending in your application because it is such a great team to be on!

Thankful For...

I just love this time of year. The weather is (finally) cooling off, holiday festivities are beginning and pumpkin flavored treats are ready to be baked. This month there is also a focus on being thankful. I really do try to focus on gratitude for all of my blessings throughout the year, but it is nice to have extra focus at this time of year.

This month, our Scrapbook Circle kit includes a "Thankful For" stamp that I couldn't wait to use on a page. As I was looking at the stamp, an idea popped into my head to create a grid style page filled with the stamp + images of things I'm thankful for. I love it when an idea forms and I'm able to put it together.

I loved filling in the blanks on the stamp. I think it would also be fun to stamp out of bunch of these and have our family each fill out a few and then clip them to a banner. Ideas are forming!

For the photos, I just went back a few months and printed out a few of my favorite photos that reflected on things I'm thankful for. The photos do not specifically tie to the words, but they all help tell the story.

Everything on this page was from the November Home Sweet Home KitMy Happy Place Add-on and the coordinating kit digital cut files.

Thanks for letting me share today!
