Us

This morning I woke up and went right into my scrapbook room. With all of the holiday craziness, there hasn't been much time for creating layouts. Luckily, I did keep up with my December Daily album with month and my project life album is current. But sometimes I just want to make a layout.

So today was the day for a layout.

I've had my January Scrapbook Circle kit sitting on my desk for a couple of weeks and I've been anxious to dive in and use it. The grey, pink and teal combo is one of my favorites right now.

For the background paper on this page, I sliced it into strips and then attached it to a piece of card stock with the stripes slightly staggered. This idea came to me because I wanted to use my new typewriter on the page, but 12 X 12 paper doesn't fit into the typewriter. So I cut the paper with the intention of just putting it back together as it was, but then played around with the new paper placement.

Want to see my new typewriter?  I must say that I love it!

After I got the typewriter, my sister mentioned that my parents had an old typewriter table on their back patio. My dad said I could have it if I wanted it. Seriously?  How cool it this?

I'm pretty sure I'll be typing on as many projects as I can.

Have you seen the January Scrapbook Circle Kit, Only You, yet?

Plus there is a fun add-on kit, You and Me, too!

Hope you are getting a little extra time to spend with your family this holiday season!

First Glitz Blog Hop!

I'm excited to be playing along with the Glitz Design Team today on a blog hop featuring the Color Me Happy line.

Today I'd like to share a fun layout I made using photos of a typewriter my husband gave me for Christmas. If you've been reading my blog, you know that I LOVE the bright and happy colors in this Glitz line. They are perfect for a playful page like this about a typewriter.

For the "I Like You" title, I cut apart one of the paper layers. I loved the look and style of the font, but it wouldn't fit on my page as a 5 X 7 sheet. I like looking for ways to cut stickers and other embellishments a part so that they fit perfectly onto my projects.

As soon as I saw this cool circle "hello" transparency, I knew it would quickly make it's way onto a project. I love that you can see through it because it makes the layering more interesting.

Keep hoping around for a chance to win the entire Glitz Color Me Happy Line! A winner will be selected from all of the comments made on the blog hop and the winner will be posted on March 3.

It's Back to School Time!

Our kids are now wrapping up their third week of school. It feels great to be settling into our new routine. Because of our move earlier this year, our kids are all at new schools. The homework is so much less at these schools and everyone (including me) is happy about that. They now have more time to practice the piano!

We had a bit of a rough start to the school year with Audrey coming down with a staph infection and being quite sick for a couple of days and missing school. Thanks to antibiotic shots at the doctor and antibiotic pills for 10 days, she is back up to full speed and loving 8th grade.

This week on the Glitz Designs blog we are sharing ideas for using Glitz products for a back to school themed project. This was the perfect opportunity to use the back to school photos from this new school year.

I love the big "The Adventure Begins" piece from the Glitz Color Me Happy Bits and Pieces paper. It seemed like the perfect title for a new school year at a new school.

A huge new box of Glitz Designs good have arrived, so this will be my last page with the Color Me Happy line. I've used up every last piece of paper and have loved using the bright and cheerful colors on so many of my pages.

My pink typewriter came in handy on the journaling.  Love it and I need to remember to use it more often!

8 Years Old

We've been in full birthday celebration mode around here. With two of our kids celebrating birthdays a week apart, we've had two friend parties and a family party in the last four days. Good times!

On Hannah's birthday last Friday, I snapped a few photos of her and I really love how a few turned out.  The pictures are evidence that she is growing so fast. Just a little too fast in my opinion, but I'm just trying to remember to enjoy each day and try to documents a few of the details along the way.

In my last post, I'd shared a few interview questions about Hannah and included all of her answers on this page. Someday I hope to have a cool typewriter that I can use for journaling like this, but for now the "American Typewritter" font in Word will suffice.

I used my Silhouette to cut the heart background of out grey cardstock. Every time I use the Silhouette I wonder why I don't use it more often. It really is such a cool machine!

Here along the bottom of the page I cut up a sticker that was a pretty big rectangle with the yellow stripes and words and spread it out along the bottom of the page. The words were prefect for this page, but the large rectangle was not the right size. Cutting the sticker into strips was the perfect solution!

I'm so thankful for scrapbooking and that it helps me preserve these memoires for our family. I probably wouldn't have taken the photo or asked the interview questions if I didn't love documenting our family. Of course, we'd survive without these details documented, but it sure is fun and interesting to get these things down on paper.
