Fringe Card

Yesterday was a friend's birthday and we celebrated by going out to brunch. It's always so fun and relaxing to go out with friends and enjoy good food and conversation.

Before heading off to meet for brunch, I put together a birthday card using the Fancy Pants Off to School and Summer's End lines. The paper filter and word "friend" are from the school line and everything else is from the Summer's End line. I really like how well these lines work together.


After cutting the fringe on the card one cut at at time, I decided to add these Martha Stewart Fringe Scissors to my wishlist. Have you tried these scissors and think they are worth having?

The Summer Album Part 4

It's been a few weeks since I've had time to update my little summer album, but I finally had some time yesterday to create a few pages.

My goals for the album are to keep things simple and keep the focus on the photos. If it was too time intensive, then there would be no way that I'd keep up with an album for an entire summer.





In keeping with the simple theme, I'm limiting the supplies. On these pages materials came from the Scrapbook Circle June and July kits plus a couple of Elle's Studio Tags.

This album will help be record things through the end of July. Since our kids went back to school at the end of July, it seems like a good stopping point for documenting our summer adventures.

A Weekend in San Francisco

This past weekend I was lucky to get to spend the weekend with my husband and some friends in San Francisco. Thought I'd share a few of the highlights in case you get a chance to visit this great city and you are looking for things to do.

Ride a Trolley


Sure, it's a very tourist thing to do, but it's fun. The lines can be long, but the trolleys are only filled half way at the first stop. Head to the second trolley stop for shorter lines and a (hopefully) quicker ride.

Bike Across the Golden Gate Bridge


We rented bikes from Blazing Saddles at Fisherman's Wharf and rode across the Golden Gate Bridge to the cute little town of Sausalito.


You could take the ferry back to Fisherman's Wharf if that eight mile ride was enough. We decided to keep riding and went about 25 miles that day. The cool weather and beautiful scenery made it a perfect bike riding day!

Victorian House Tour


Our guide, Jay, was really knowledgeable and we had a great time on the 2.5 hour walking tour. We ended our tour on Union Street where we had a really amazing Asian lunch at Betelnut and the most delicious cream puff I've ever had at Pacific Puff.

The Food

Everything we ate on our trip was amazing. We used Yelp to help us find pretty much every place we ate.


If you have a smart phone, just use the Yelp app by typing the type of cuisine you are looking for (Italian, breakfast, ice cream) and it will show you on a map everything that it nearby. You can see reviews and get price ranges too. Love that app!

Summer Fun

We've had a busy summer around here and I thought it would be fun to create a couple of layouts sharing two of our summer activities: dance classes/recital and playing with friends.

The first layout is about my youngest daughter's first dance recital. She attended many rehersals and was ready and excited to perform on the stage.


One of my favorite Glitz Designs product is the paper layers. They are so easy to work with. On this page a couple of the circles were punched from a paper layer and the dancing kids is from another paper layer. I cut a little fringe on the dancing kids paper to add a little more texture to the page.


Another one of our favorite summer activities was playing with friends. One day my oldest daughter had a friend over and they spent hours playing with a Photo Booth app on my computer. They took lots of silly pictures and had a really great time. Several of the photos were saved to my desktop and I printed a few favorites for this page.


My favorite thing about this layout is all of the Glitzer banner stickers. I love that the stickers have pieces of bling right on them!

10 Reasons

It's always cool when a scrapbooking product gives me an idea for a layout. This "10 Reasons You Are The Best" tag from the You are My Sunshine Kit was a perfect starter for a page.


I sliced the tag up so that each numbered section was separate from the others. It took a lot of playing with arrangement of the pieces, but finally ended up with this layout.


It's a pretty simple page, but that works for me. It actually took about four days with this page sitting on my desk before everything finally moved into place. I just tinkered around with it until it felt right.

On the home front, my kids are now into their second week of school and we are getting back into the groove with homework, better bedtime routines and afternoon snacks. I really like having everyone back on a schedule.

Ted Drews Frozen Custard

Not only did our family have a great time on our family reunion trip earlier this month, I'm now happy that I have lots of fresh and new photos to scrapbook.

One of my favorite photos was one of my niece with frozen custard dripping down her face. She is just so adorable. I wish she lived closer so I could see her more than once a year.


We made a stop while we were in St. Louis at Ted Drews Frozen Custard. They only have two locations and they are both in St. Louis, so if you are every traveling there, I'd recommend a stop. It was really delicious. Just in case you are wondering, I had the vanilla custard with hot fudge and bananas. :)


This page is making crave more frozen custard. At least we have Nielsen's Frozen Custard nearby.

Cousin Photoshoot Outtakes

A couple of weeks ago when we were at our family reunion, we decided it would be fun to get a picture of all of the cousins together laying in a circle. One of the kids didn't want to be in the picture and all of the other kids complained about the bright sun. It was pretty funny.


Since I had a bunch of "bad" photos, I thought that it would be fun to group them together on a layout. The squinty eyes and half smiles make for some memorable photos!

For the layout supplies...I was lucky to get a few sample sheets of the new American Crafts Amy Tangerine line while I was at CHA a couple of weeks ago. Don't you just love that chevron patterned paper? I also used stuff from other AC lines plus and Elle's Studio tag and Glitz alpha.
