Grilled Pizza

Over the past weekend, friends were telling us that they love to make grilled pizzas. I love the grilled pizzas at one of my favorite restaurants, Joe's Farm Grill, so I decided to try grilling pizzas for our dinner tonight.

I made two pizzas: one pepperoni for the kids and a pesto/tomato for the parents.

Made with red sauce, pepperoni and shredded mozzarella.

It was really easy and fast which are two of my highest qualifications for a great dinner.

If you want to try out grilling pizzas, here is what you need to do:

1. Turn one side of your grill to high and one side to low.
2. Roll out pizza dough so that it is pretty thin. (I used a bag of premade whole wheat dough from Fresh and Easy.)
3. Brush one side of the dough with olive oil and place dough oiled side down on the grill.
4. Let dough bake for about three minutes until it starts to bubble and looks nice and brown.
5. Brush the uncooked side of the dough with olive oil and flip to the lower heat side of the grill using a spatula.
6. Top with your favorite toppings, close the grill lid and let the pizza finish cooking. (About 5 more minutes.)

Made with pesto, a little red sauce, fresh mozzarella and tomato slices.

That's it! Both pizzas took about 30 minutes from start to finish.

Joe's Farm Grill

My husband's birthday is today and we started celebrating on Friday by going out to dinner with a bunch of friends. We went to one of our favorite restaurants: Joe's Farm Grill.

If you are ever in the Phoenix area, this is definitely worth a visit.

The BBQ chicken pizza is excellent. Especially when paired with a side of sweet potato fries (dipped in ranch dressing!)
I ordered what I order every time we go there: the Pesto Chicken Sandwich. Once I find something I like at a restaueant, I just can't help but order it every time. I sometimes try to order something else, but I just can't. I've got to order what I know I will like. Is anyone else like that?
It was so nice to go out without kids and relax with friends over an almost 3 hour dinner. Great friends are such a blessing! So are good babysitters!
Happy birthday to my amazing husband.
