Getting Messy with Misting

Using mists on my pages is one of my favorite things to so, so when our Glitz Design challenge this week was to use mists on a project, I was ready for the challenge.

One this page, I used a bit of regular mist splattering along in a few spots on the page. It's a great way to add some color and texturing to a page.

I took the top off of the mist and used the plastic end to draw on my page. The border around the photo plus the pink and turquoise colors on the triangle pieces were added by drawing mist onto the page. The mist gives a bit of a messy look and I love that!

For the triangle pattern paper, I used the cover sheet that came on the collection pack. I couldn't bring myself to cut triangles out of a bunch of different patterned papers and when I saw the cover sheet with all of the patterns together, I knew that was my solution.

This was my first page with the new Glitz Design Wild & Free line and it was so much fun to work with. The colors and patterns are going to be perfect for so many different pages.

Three Generations

I was excited to break in the new Glitz Designs collection, Sunshine in My Soul, for the layout I want to share today. I'm just loving the yellow and grey color palette!

This week on the Glitz blog, we are sharing pages about the men in our lives.

We get together with family for most holidays and everyone is always pretty cooperative about taking photos on Mother's Day and Father's Day.

Thankfully, I had this great photo of Max, Ward and Ward's dad from Father's Day last year. We feel pretty lucky that we live near family and get to be together to celebrate most holidays.

I love using mist on my pages to add some pops of color. On this page I also used mist to draw my journaling lines. I just unscrewed the top of the mist bottle and dragged the end of the plastic dispenser tube along the paper. It was a quick and easy way to add a little journaling space.

One of my favorite things about the new Glitz collection is their new alpha/words sticker sheet.

It has such a cool variety of fonts + words. It made creating this title with mixed fonts really easy. Plus the little word stickers were perfect for adding some text along the side of my layout.

We are looking forward to celebrating another Father's Day together this Sunday. How is it already time for Father's Day? Seems like it was just Father's Day a few weeks ago. Time continues to speed by!

Sketchy Thursdays 3.18 Sketch

When I saw the sketch from Sketchy Thursdays this week I was excited to see that it used mist. I just picked up some new glimmer mist last week, so I was ready for a reason to use it!

Here's a look at the sketch.
Here's my take on the sketch.
I decided that it would be interesting to create a non-misted frame around the photos. I cut a piece of paper to the size I wanted the non-misted area to be. Then I stuck the cut paper to the cardstock with a tiny bit of adhesive so that it wouldn't slide around while misting. After spraying the mist, I just gently peeled up the paper and attached my photos and patterned paper.I like the effect of this technique and will probably try to use it again sometime. What do you think?

Thanks for the great sketch!

Most of the supplies for this layout came from the upcoming Scrapbook Circle April kit.
