First Glitz Blog Hop!

I'm excited to be playing along with the Glitz Design Team today on a blog hop featuring the Color Me Happy line.

Today I'd like to share a fun layout I made using photos of a typewriter my husband gave me for Christmas. If you've been reading my blog, you know that I LOVE the bright and happy colors in this Glitz line. They are perfect for a playful page like this about a typewriter.

For the "I Like You" title, I cut apart one of the paper layers. I loved the look and style of the font, but it wouldn't fit on my page as a 5 X 7 sheet. I like looking for ways to cut stickers and other embellishments a part so that they fit perfectly onto my projects.

As soon as I saw this cool circle "hello" transparency, I knew it would quickly make it's way onto a project. I love that you can see through it because it makes the layering more interesting.

Keep hoping around for a chance to win the entire Glitz Color Me Happy Line! A winner will be selected from all of the comments made on the blog hop and the winner will be posted on March 3.

T-Shirt Quilt and Project Life Week 2

I've been having so much fun with the new Glitz Designs Color Me Happy line. Seriously loving those bright and cheerful colors! Today I want to share both a layout and Project Life spread where I used the Color Me Happy line.

This layout uses one of my favorite photos from Christmas morning. It's one of my husband holding up the t-shirt quilt I made for him. He was totally surprised! He's not always the easiest to buy gifts for, so I was happy to put this together for him.

There are so many fun bits and pieces in the Color Me Happy line. I love the Happy Paper Garland and I'm pretty sure you will be seeing that garland on lots of projects until I finally use it all up.

The paper I used for the background of this page has the who, what, when and where incorporated into the paper design. It was fun to add the journaling with stickers and work the placement of the preprinted journaling space into the page layout.

Next up for today is a Project Life spread I put together.

Once again, the bright and cheerful colors make me so happy! The big "today" on the peek a boo transparency was a perfect layer for adding the date to the spread.

One of my favorite embellishments on page is in one of the bottom pockets where I cut apart the "happy" from the paper garland and placed it over the big brown polkas. Have I mentioned that I love that Happy Paper Garland?

The Glitz 6 X 6 paper pad was just the prefect size for this spread.  The new 6 X 6 pads are so cool because (1) the papers are double sided and (2) in addition to favorite 12 x 12 designs shrunk down, they have unique designs that are not part of the 12 X 12 paper collection.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Grandma's Sugar Cookies

Sorry I've been MIA almost all month! Our family got to go on an amazing 8 night Disney Cruise and all of the prep and then time away has taken over February. Now I'm back and trying to recover. Luckily, I created a layout before I went on vacation that I can share with you today! I'm hoping to post vacation pictures tomorrow.

One of our favorite Valentine traditions is having Grandma bake and deliver her amazing sugar cookies to us. The cookies are thick and soft and the cream cheese frosting is perfect!

We may or may not have indulged on cookies for breakfast the next morning.

If you need to make yourself some of these cookies, you can find the recipe here.

Okay, I've got to get back to work. I'm finalizing all of our paperwork for our taxes and getting the Scrapbook Circle kit ready to go live tomorrow. Oh, and just to make this month much crazier, we found a house we totally love (we love our current house too, but we couldn't resist making the change!) and we are closing on it tomorrow. So on top of the usual business, we bought a new home this month. Luckily we aren't moving until May, so I have time to process the change and pack!

Crafting Valentine Treats

With Valentine's Day coming next week, I though it would be fun to create a few treat holders to hold some sweet treats. The Glitz Designs Love You Madly line was a perfect starting place for the treat holders. I love the pink and grey color combo of this line! I want to share two different treat holder designs that are quick and fun.

First up is the Fortune Teller Treat Holder:

Did you make these little fortune tellers as a kid? They are really easy and when flipped upside down, they make four little pockets that perfectly hold small treats. If you need to brush up on making fortune tellers, this link will help you!

Once you've made the forutne teller (I recommend starting with either a 6" or 8" square), then you poke a hole in the center and stick a straw or stick through the hole.

I embellished the top of each straw. That's it! I think these would make really cute place settings. The paper garlands were my favorite accent on these little treat holders.

I'd like to share one more quick treat holder with you today. I'm thinking this would be perfect for dressing up a Valentine treat in a lunch box or making a Valentine a little more special for a friend.

1. Start off with a square piece of paper. I used an 8" square paper.

2. Fold the paper in half diagonally so that you have a triangle.

3. Fold the right bottom corner of the triangle over to the left side.

4. Then fold the bottom left corner over.

5. Fold the top layer of the top point down.

6. Add some adhesive to make sure the little pocket will stay together. Then embellish.

7. Finish off the treat pocket with something sweet!

Hope you enjoy these ideas! Do you like to do Valentine crafting? Do you plan on making some Valentines?

Happiness Is...

This month over on the Scrapbook Circle blog the challenge is to use the theme "Happiness Is..." to inspire a layout. You can stop by their blog for all of the details.

I used a photo booth strip of photos that were take last month when Audrey went to her friend's 13th birthday party. They did a scavenger hunt and the mall and decided to stop in for a quick photo booth visit before checking things off of their scavenger hunt list.  I love that Audrey thought to take these photos!

These girls have been friends since they were born and it is so fun to watch them grow up! It really seems pretty much impossible that they are going to be teenagers this year, but I guess it really is true.

For the title on this page, I wrote "Happiness Is..." with a thick black Sharpie on white paper. Then I took a picture of the paper and loaded the image into photoshop. I bumped up the contrast and saved the photo as a jpg. I then opened the file in my Silhouette software, traced the image and cut out the title in my handwriting. Man I love the Silhouette!
