Aventure Awaits

There's just something I love about being at the beach. While Audrey and I were in Santa Barbara a couple of months ago, I snapped a couple favorite beach photos. While scrolling through my photos, I decided to pair a couple of them on a layout based on the Scrapbook Circle sketch for April designed by Diana Fisher.

Diana created a cool cut circle cut file to go a long with the sketch this month and I used it to cut out the circles on the background of my page.

It was fun to fill in the circles with bits and pieces from the Bucket List kit.

Ahh...the beach. I'm looking forward to returning for a weekend in June with our family. Until then, I'll just keep soaking up our Arizona sunshine.

November Scrapbook Circle Sketch

Every month Diana puts together fabulous sketches for Scrapbook Circle and shares them on the SC blog. I always love seeing all of the different takes on the sketch.

Here's my take on the sketch for November:

I had so much fun putting this page together. All of the bits and pieces from the Home Sweet Home kit were spread all over my desk and it was easy to layer up everything onto my page.

My daughter and I go to the same salon we we both love it. (Need a salon in Chandler, AZ? Check out Flict!) I thought it would be fun to document one of our favorite places.

Exploring South Mountain (Scrapbook Circle Sketch)

A couple of weeks ago Audrey went to a birthday party up on South Mountain in Phoenix. It was a really cool party location, but quite a bit of a drive from our house. The rest of our family went to dinner nearby and then had extra time before the party ended, so we spent some time walking around and exploring.

We had great city views from up on the mountain, but sadly the pictures didn't capture it. We were on the lookout for snakes and luckily didn't have any cross our path!

This is the perfect time to be living in Arizona and we are soaking up all of the outdoor time we can before the months of intense heat sets in. It was great to have some extra time and get in a little mountain exploring!

Today a new sketch by Diana Fisher debuted on the Scrapbook Circle blog and I used the sketch as a starting point for my layout.

Horse Riding Lesson

Santa was very generous and brought Hannah horse riding lessons for her Christmas present. Hannah had asked for a bike, so Santa was a little nervous that she might be disappointed, but thankfully she was thrilled with her gift! She was counting down the days from Christmas until January 8th when she got to go to her first lesson.

I snapped these photos on my phone, but I'm planning on taking my real camera out to a lesson where I can get some nicer shots. It always seems like such a bother to carry around our big camera, but the pictures are always so much better. Oh well, I am thankful that I'm able to capture so many everyday photos on my phone.

It was a lot of fun layering a bunch of stuff on this page. I just kept adding until it felt right. I also had some fun with Heidi Swapp's color shine in Bronzer (on the happy tag) and Tropicana Teal and Primrose (on the tags tucked into the striped bag.)

It was so fun watching Hannah during her first riding lesson. We was a little timid and really excited and happy. She said that she was really sore the next day. I think being sore was something new for her!

Baking Girls

My daughter and one of her friends love baking together. They have sold their baked goods at neighborhood lemonade stands a couple of times. Earlier this month they decided to do some baking and sell their goods at a local boutique. They spent several hours baking chocolate cupcakes with salted caramel frosting and cinnamon rolls.

I think it's so fun that they are interested in something that involves creativity and a bit of entrepreneurial spirit.

Dinner Date @ Soccer

With the soccer season in full swing right now, we have three nights a week where kids are off to soccer practice. My husband and I have been meeting up at the soccer field most Tuesday nights where we eat dinner together while watching soccer practice. I usually cook up something simple at home and bring it. One week I picked up Rubios and I happened to snap a couple of photos.

I love documenting these simple moments of our family life. It's all of these little moments that seem to be where true bonding and the foundation of our family life is built. It's all about making time together happen especially when we are so busy that we could easily not spend time together until very late in the day. I like that we make spending time together a priority.

This page came together with the November Scrapbook Circle kit and add-on. It's kind of a funky mix of patterns on this page, but I like it anyway!

Hello, Cupcake

Today on the Scrapbook Circle blog, one of our blog coordinators, Diana, is sharing a great sketch for the monthly blog challenge.

Here's my take on the sketch:

First of all, doesn't that picture make you really crave a cupcake?  I'm not usually a big cupcake fan, but my sister, Michelle, discovered a place called Ollie Cake in Phoenix through the show Cupcake Wars on the Food Network that has fabulous cupcakes. The cake is moist + the frosting is delicious.

My mom, Michelle and I went to Ollie Cake the week they were featuring the four cupcake flavors they used when they won Cupcake Wars last month. The flavors were a little unusual, but that was part of what made the experience so fun. They had a tomato soup and grilled cheese cupcake that it was sweet like carrot cake. There was also a rosewater cupcake which I wasn't very excited about ordering because it didn't sound very tasty, but it ended up being my favorite flavor. There was also a corn cake with a berry compote topping and a chocolate/orange cupcake. I've only been once, but I need to go again soon!

The Scrapbook Circle Talk of the Town kit was a lot of fun to use when creating this page. I loved how all of the colors and patterns worked together.  Don't forget to stop by the Scrapbook Circle blog to find out the details on the sketch challenge.
