Working on...

I've been busy working on a few projects, but I don't have them quite finished up yet. Thought I'd give you a look at what I've been up to.

First, I've been doing more creating with the Fancy Pants It's the Little Things line. I'm really loving the color combo in this line. I'm putting together a layout with a few favorite photos from our family trip to Boston last fall.


I'm also in the middle of a LOVE banner that I'm making just for fun. I saw pink and red doilies at Target a couple of days ago and knew I wanted to make a banner with them.


I used my Silhouette to cut the letters and heart from fuzzy white vinyl. The fuzzy vinyl is perfect for misting and I love making a mess with mist!

just finished reading...

...the Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton. At first, I wasn't sure about reading this thick 560 page book, but once I started reading I was intrigued by the mystery in the book.


Here's a summary from Booklist: "In 1913, a little girl arrives in Brisbane, Australia, and is taken in by a dockmaster and his wife. She doesn’t know her name, and the only clue to her identity is a book of fairy tales tucked inside a white suitcase. When the girl, called Nell, grows up, she starts to piece together bits of her story, but just as she’s on the verge of going to England to trace the mystery to its source, her grandaughter, Cassandra, is left in her care. When Nell dies, Cassandra finds herself the owner of a cottage in Cornwall, and makes the journey to England to finally solve the puzzle of Nell’s origins. Shifting back and forth over a span of nearly 100 years, this is a sprawling, old-fashioned novel, as well-cushioned as a Victorian country house, replete with family secrets, stories-within-stories, even a maze and a Dickensian rag-and-bone shop. All the pieces don’t quite mesh, but it’s a satisfying read overall, just the thing for readers who like multigenerational sagas with a touch of mystery. --Mary Ellen Quinn"

I'd give this 4 out of 5 stars. The characters were well developed and the story kept me guessing on how everything pieced together until near the end. Another favorite thing about the book was that things were resolved in the end and I wasn't left with unanswered questions.

My youngest daughter just celebrated with 100th day of school in her kindergarten classes. Each of the students got to bring in a project that used 100 of something. We decided to make smiley faces out of 100 white chocolate chips. Yum!


For the journaling space on the page, I stacked up a bunch of label stickers to create a larger space for writing.

We are so excited to be showing off not only the February kit Happy Days, but also introducing you all to the new Design Team. What better way than to hop around and win some fun prizes!

One Little Word - January

Last month I decided that my word for 2011 is GROW. I have to admit that January flew by without giving too much thought to my word. But this month I have committed to spending more time thinking about and working on goals related to my word.

I signed up for the Ali Edwards Big Picture class where we are given a prompt each month that focuses on our one little word.

Today I was able to work on the January prompt which included defining and finding inspiration from my word.


Here's a look at what I created using Ali's January ideas.

I'm using Pink Paislee album pages that came is all different shapes and sizes for this project. Each month I will be adding a page to an album that focuses on my word.


I'm excited to have a monthly prompt to keep my word on my mind. Hope you have a great day!

Things I Love

I had so much fun playing with the Glitz Love Nest line on this first layout I would like to share with you today. The paper, stickers and bling were all perfect for layering. Plus I can't get enough of the sky background paper - love it!

I freehand cut all of the hearts to add to the handmade look of this layout.


The second layout I want to share is about one of the things that I love to do: travel.

I decided to do a layout documenting all of the places I was able to visit last year. We were really blessed to do several nearby getaways plus a couple of longer trips where we visted multiple cities.


When I saw the giant "Go" card in the Glitz Scarlett collection, I knew it was a perfect fit for this page.


I can't seem to get enough of the Glitz Teeny alphas and I really put them to work on this layout. I think that I use them on almost every layout. Look at all of the words I was able to spell with just one sticker sheet!

CHA Recap

I arrived home last night after a fantastic 3 days spent in LA at the Craft and Hobby Trade show. My amazing friends Jennie and Diana joined me and we were able to plan out and order for several Scrapbook Circle kits.

On the first day of our trip we flew in and went to a banner class taught by Jenni Bowlin. We made a really cute house banner and I'll have to post a picture later when I finish up the project.


That night we had some free time so we went as saw Prada to Nada, a movie based on Sense and Sensibility. Fun girls night out movie! We ever even given lip gloss and nail files as we left the movie.

The next morning the CHA floors opened and we were off! It was fun to see my layout up in the Fancy Pants booth.


For lunch, we meet up with 2 of the other Scrapbook Circle design team girls, Julie and Lisa. It was so great to meet them since we've been working together for months.


That night we stayed up late pouring over catalogs and all of the paper samples we had collected throughout the day.


The next day, we turned in all 20 orders and then meet up with another Scrapbook Circle design team member, Heather. So fun!


Here's a look at some of the the things I saw at the trade show. It really is exciting being around so many creative and kind people.

It's the Little Things

My favorite new line from Fancy Pants this show it "It's the Little Things." Of course, all of the lines are great to work with, but I really love the neutral color palette and basic designs on this line. It works so well for so many different occasions.


See the big, white circle paper filter? These are so fun to work with! They mist really well, but here I just left it white. They add a cool transparent element to the page.


I've been waiting to use this photo of my kids in Central Park and when I saw this paper, I knew they would go well together. The sun shining is this photo is so bright and happy!
