Stitch Fix #10

It's already time again to take a look at my most recent Stitch Fix delivery. I really do love having a box of new clothes delivered to my doorstep every month. Want to take a look at what came this month?

Under Skies Raglan Striped Knit Shirt

This shirt is cute and casual, but I have another shirt really similar to this. So, this shirt was sent back.

Bay to Baubles Metal Necklace

This necklace is fun, but just a bit too much for me. I'm more of a simple jewelry person, so I knew that this necklace wouldn't get a lot of wear if I kept it. Sent it back.

Mystree Chamberlain Striped Drape Front Cardigan & Margaret M Kayla Skinny Jeans

This photo shows two items: the sweater and the skinny jeans. My 13 year old really thought I should keep the sweater, but I just didn't think that I'd wear it enough to justify keeping it. Maybe if it had a more interesting color or print, I would have liked it more.

The skinny jeans were really cute and fit great, but they were $98. I couldn't justify spending that much on colored jeans. Don't you agree?

Both of these items were sent back.

Willow and Clay Bridgit Star Print Crew Sweater

Okay, I really wanted to like this sweater. I loved the star print. The problem was that the sweater was just too big. It's hard to tell in the picture, but it was huge. So sadly, this went back too.

So this was my first Stitch Fix where I didn't keep anything. Kind of a bummer. I guess that since it's my 10th delivery and this is the first time I didn't keep anything I'm okay with that. I'll give it another try next month and then decide if I want to keep it going.

December Daily 2013 >>> Days 19 - 25

Man, I love December. It's such a festive time and there is so much that I want to document. Here's a look at the last few pages in my album. These last few days record a retirement party, our 17th anniversary, 3 music programs at church, plus Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

And here's a look at the cover of the album. Just kept it simple by gluing some alpha stickers to the cover and tied a big red ribbon around the album. Simple and finished.

Thanks, December, for the great memories. Now I'm looking forward to a fresh, new year!

Today I want to share a Project Life spread from the first week of this month. This is my final project for the Glitz Design Team and I'm excited to share it with you!

December is always filled with a lot of activities. I try to soak it all up and enjoy it rather than feel like we have too much going on.

December Daily 2013 >>> Days 9 - 18

So far this month, I've been able to work on my December Daily album every couple of days and I'm keeping up! This is the perfect project for December because each pages requires a limited time commitment (very important) but still packs a cool result in the end (love that.)

Want to take a look at what we've been up to?

Day 9 /// We meet up with friends and saw Frozen. We all of loved it. Our girls have been listening and singing to the Frozen soundtrack ever since.

I put together the "Merry Christmas" banner with the help of some gold cardstock, my Silhouette and some red glitter ribbon. It's hanging in our kitchen and we are clipping up Christmas cards at they arrive. Let's just say I learned my lesson one year when I attached Christmas cards to a wall with glue dots and had paint pulling off when the cards came down. Clipping to ribbon is much less messy!

Day 10 /// We had a junior high choir concert tonight followed by a visit to Yogurtland. I just love this time of year and all of the Christmas music we get to enjoy!

Day 11 /// Our Christmas cards arrived! I ordered from Minted and I must say that I love them. The silver foil lettering is so cool. The picture isn't my favorite, but it's what we had and we are all looking at the camera, so it was a go.

Day 12 /// Hannah had a biography book report at school where she dressed up as Annie Sullivan and did a fantastic job telling about Annie's life in 1st person. That night our girls had a choir rehearsal, so the boys and I grabbed some dinner at CPK (Max was very lucky and got a slushy drink!) and the boys got haircuts. Perfectly relaxing and uneventful night.

Day 13 /// Weekend Fun! I mixed a few photos on the 13th and 14th because the girls had two choir concerts and it all just blended together. Lots of singing and music!

Day 14 /// We also had a church parties with breakfast with Santa in the morning and an adult dinner at night. Thankfully grandparents were able to attend the girls' concert that night, so they had "fans" both nights.

Day 15 /// At the end of the day, I realized that I'd only taken a couple of bad pictures. So lame. I was happily surprised when I uploaded photos from the camera to discover that while we were at my parents' house for dinner, my husband had snapped several pictures of their Christmas decorations. Yay! The nativity is something that my mom has put our on their piano since I was little. Love that we have this documented.

Day 16 /// Yes, we had another music event to attend. This time it was Audrey singing with her choir and a youth symphony. This was really enjoyable!

Day 17 /// You guessed it - another music event. Our kids all take piano lessons and it was their recital night. I also got to go to lunch with two friends who are both moving to different states. We had a great time together during our three hour lunch.

Day 18 /// Lots of fun church events for the kids today. Hannah made a felt ornament at activity days, Max had a white elephant gift exchange party at our house with the boy scouts and Audrey went caroling on hay trailers with the youth group. Festive night!

That you have it. Simply documenting things throughout the month.

You can check out days 1 - 8 here.

Magical Holiday

I just love the magical feeling in the air this time of year. I love the lights, hot chocolate and planning out gifts to give to our friends and family. This year one more things I can add to my list of things I love about this time of year is that we have a fire in a real fireplace.

We've had a gas fireplace before and another house didn't have a fireplace, so we may be a bit overexcited about having a real fireplace. I just love the ambiance and the cracking sounds.

This page is about the first fire we built in our new home. Well, it's not totally new. We move here in April, but it's just now getting cold enough to light a fire for the first time. I hope this is the first of many fires in the fireplace at our home.

All this month we are sharing inspiration using the Glitz Hello December line on their blog. Stop by to see more ideas using this fabulous line!

A Favorite Tradition >>> Christmas Brunch

For the past several years our family has hosted our parents and siblings at our home on Christmas morning for brunch. Pajamas are encouraged along with an amazing spread of food. Everyone brings something to eat, so it makes putting the meal together pretty easy. I had a couple of favorite photos from last year's brunch and decided to use them on a page.

This layout was a lot of fun to put together. I looked at it as if I was building 4 mini pages and then pieces them altogether to form one big page.

One of my favorite things about using new Christmas paper lines is that I go through the previous year's photos and get to remember all of the good time's we've had while I use my new Christmas goods.

Our family recipe that we make for sure each Christmas brunch is Creme Brulee French Toast. Then we add in egg dishes, some veggies, sausage, fruit and a few other things too. I'm feeling hungry!

December Daily 2013 >>> Days 1 - 8

This is my fourth consecutive year creating a December Daily album and I'm loving it. This project encourages my to take more pictures which is always a good thing. I'm keeping things simple and not spending a lot of time on each spread. It's all about documenting little moments and having them collected in once place for years to come.

Each year, it is great to pull out the past December Daily albums and see the things we've done in previous years. Some of the activities are things we do every year and this is the perfect place to document those traditions.

The pages are a mix of page protectors and enlarged photos printed and punched as inserts on some days. I love the mix and feel of using different materials for this.

Most of the project supplies came from the Scrapbook Circle All is Bright Kit and Holly Jolly Add-on.

Stitch Fix #9 >>> December

Hi everyone! I'm excited to share my most recent Stitch Fix with you today. I'm still loving having a Stitch Fix box every month. I start watching for the mailman once my shipping notice comes. It really is just so fun getting a box filled with clothes that I didn't have to go and shop for myself.

(Not sure about what Stitch Fix is? You can read my post about it here.)

Want to take a look at what came this time?

Kut from the Kloth Danny 5-Pocket Knit Pants

When I first pulled these out of the box, I wasn't overly excited. I mean, they were fine, but they looked like basic black pants. Once they were on, they fit perfectly. I'd suggested in my requests that some leggings and sweaters would be fun for this fix. In the notes on my order, my stylist Alexandra, said she thought I'd like these pants because they are slim and stretchy, but a bit more substancial than leggings. She was right. Kept this.

Pink Martini Felicity Mixed Stripe Long Sleeve Sweater

This was the only piece I pulled out and thought, "I would never wear this!" The pattern was just to bold that I wasn't feeling it. I tried it on anyway since that is my personal rule for these boxes. The fit was too big and baggy. Sent it back.

THML Watkins Dot Print V-Neck Cardigan

This was something that I really liked when I first saw it. I loved that it was neurtal, but with some polka dot playfulness mixed in. Once I tried it on, I went back and forth on whether on not I loved how it looked on me. It puckered slightly in the front and I decided that it would annoy me too much which would proably mean that I wouldn't wear it enough to get good use out of it. Sent it back. (Still regretting the send back a little bit.)

Hawthonre Anastasia Confetti Lines Wrap Scarf

This arrived during the perfect week of cold weather. It is so soft and I love the navy and purple color combo. I don't have many scarves and I hope this one will get a lot of use. Kept it.

Hawthorne Rowson Colorblock Stirped Sweater

I'm pretty sure I had something similiar to this from the Gap back in 1994!  This was okay and I really did like the pop of purple, but the fit was baggy (I know sweaters can be baggy, but I don't want to feel like I'm wearing something super poofy!) If I'd been keeping everything else (which let's me take a 25% discount off of everything), I would have kept this too because it was fine. But since I was sending other things back, this went back with them.

There you have it! Another month of Stitch Fix. I'm really happy with my new pants and scarf!

Hello, Christmas

All this month the Glitz design team is sharing ideas using their fabulous Hello December line. I'm loving the classic Christmas colors mixed with the golden yellow in the line.

This week I decided to create a layout with a lot of triangles. I'm sure I will tire of triangles sometime soon, but for now, I'm loving them!

I didn't have a specific plan for the page, but I did cut out a bunch of triangles from the 6 X 6 paper pad and started playing around with arranging them on the page.

After the triangle pattern was figured out, I added some stitching with my sewing machine to finish it off.

I love this photo I snapped of my kids last year sitting at the top of the stairs before coming down to the tree and presents on Christmas morning. I think I should try to take a similar picture each year and document how much they are growing each year.

Be sure to stop by the Glitz blog all month long for daily inspiration!

Scrapbook Circle Blog Hop

Welcome to Scrapbook Circle's blog hop! Today the entire team is sharing inspiration and ideas on each of their blogs using the December All is Bright Kit.

Each creative team member is giving away an All is Bright Kit on her blog, so be sure to leave comments along the way.

Today I'm excited to share a few of my foundation pages for my December Daily album. I've created the base of each page so it will be quick and easy during the month of December to slip photos into the album. I'm saving most of the kit embellishments to layer on the photos once they are in the album.

I'm excited that it's now December and I can start filling this album up!
