I just love the magical feeling in the air this time of year. I love the lights, hot chocolate and planning out gifts to give to our friends and family. This year one more things I can add to my list of things I love about this time of year is that we have a fire in a real fireplace.
We've had a gas fireplace before and another house didn't have a fireplace, so we may be a bit overexcited about having a real fireplace. I just love the ambiance and the cracking sounds.
This page is about the first fire we built in our new home. Well, it's not totally new. We move here in April, but it's just now getting cold enough to light a fire for the first time. I hope this is the first of many fires in the fireplace at our home.
All this month we are sharing inspiration using the Glitz Hello December line on their blog. Stop by to see more ideas using this fabulous line!

A Favorite Tradition >>> Christmas Brunch
For the past several years our family has hosted our parents and siblings at our home on Christmas morning for brunch. Pajamas are encouraged along with an amazing spread of food. Everyone brings something to eat, so it makes putting the meal together pretty easy. I had a couple of favorite photos from last year's brunch and decided to use them on a page.
This layout was a lot of fun to put together. I looked at it as if I was building 4 mini pages and then pieces them altogether to form one big page.
One of my favorite things about using new Christmas paper lines is that I go through the previous year's photos and get to remember all of the good time's we've had while I use my new Christmas goods.
Our family recipe that we make for sure each Christmas brunch is Creme Brulee French Toast. Then we add in egg dishes, some veggies, sausage, fruit and a few other things too. I'm feeling hungry!

Hello, Christmas
All this month the Glitz design team is sharing ideas using their fabulous Hello December line. I'm loving the classic Christmas colors mixed with the golden yellow in the line.
This week I decided to create a layout with a lot of triangles. I'm sure I will tire of triangles sometime soon, but for now, I'm loving them!
I didn't have a specific plan for the page, but I did cut out a bunch of triangles from the 6 X 6 paper pad and started playing around with arranging them on the page.
After the triangle pattern was figured out, I added some stitching with my sewing machine to finish it off.
I love this photo I snapped of my kids last year sitting at the top of the stairs before coming down to the tree and presents on Christmas morning. I think I should try to take a similar picture each year and document how much they are growing each year.
Be sure to stop by the Glitz blog all month long for daily inspiration!

Feathers!
Feathers are a really fun trend in scrapbooking right now and I was excited about our Glitz Design team challenge to use feathers on a project this week.
The Glitz Wild + Free line has a perfect selection of feathers and it was fun to use them on a page. There were lots of feather stickers + feathers on a whatnot journaling card to choose from.
A few weeks ago my daughter and her friend used my camera and went outside to do a photo shoot while taking photos of each other. Lucky me! I loaded the photos onto my computer and there were some really great images. The photo I used on this page was one of my favorites that the girls took.
I love the bright colors in this line and thought they would contract well with a black and white photo. What do you think?
For the journaling, I typed out a bunch of different "favorites" and then asked Audrey to fill in the blanks with her handwriting. It was a perfect way for her to get involved with the page and preserve what her handwriting looks like right now.
Wan to see more feather inspriation? Be sure to stop by the Glitz Designs blog this week!
P.S. Did you see that Glitz Designs has posted a call for a new DT in 2014? You can read about the details here. I've loved being a part of their team for the past 3.5 years! I'm not going to be applying this time because I have other things pulling for my time right now, but I highly recommend sending in your application because it is such a great team to be on!

Raven Blog Hop >>> Glitz Designs
Happy Halloween! If you celebrate Halloween, I hope you have a fun filled day!
Today we are doing a Glitz blog hop filled with inspiration and creations using the Glitz Raven collection.
I dusted off my circle punches and had some fun creating the background for this page. I'm wondering why it's been so long since I've used those punches! I filled in a few of the circles with stickers and those fabulous Glitz Giant Rhinestones. Those are seriously so cool!
Want to join in the blog hop? Just leave one comment per design team member as you check out the projects today. One random commenter on the blog hop will win a Raven prize pack from Glitz!

Hello, Halloween!
Are you like me a take a bunch of photos on holidays, but then don't do anything with them until a year later when the holiday rolls around again? After the holiday, I'm ready to move on and don't seem to scrapbook those photos right away. Plus, if I wait a year, then I'll have brand new holiday products to use!
Today on the Glitz blog we are wrapping up our cross promotion with Prima and I have another project to share. I may be biased, but I think Glitz really outdid themselves with their Halloween line this year. I just love the patterned and the classic colors.
One of the items in the Prima pack of goodies was a 12 X 12 diamond background stencil. I used some black mist and the stencil to give the background a little extra texture. I had a lot of fun layering up paper, trim, stickers, tags and that cute owl rhinestone on this page.
Last year was a really fun Halloween. Now we just need to figure out what the kids are going to dress up as this year!

We Love Halloween
I hope you don't get tired of Halloween posts around here this month!
I've been busy creating a bunch of stuff with the Glitz Raven collection. The patterns and classic Halloween colors are so easy to work with.
This picture was taken last year before the boys headed out for some serious trick or treating. I think this was the first year we let them run around the neighborhood with friends without any parents. The neighborhood streets are block off from cars and they had a set area they could go in plus they were with older kids, so now worries that they weren't safe! I'm pretty sure they had a fabulous time.
Be sure to stop by the Glitz Blog this week of a lot of fun Halloween inspiration!

I really liked how this background photo looked with the photos, but I want to add some splashed of color. I cut some paper strips the same width as some of the striped sections of the background paper and filled them in with some pops of color. I really like how the bright colors look again the black and white background.

It's Halloween Time!
Around here, we love Halloween. It's the perfect opportunity to enjoy some nice weather outside with our neighbors and friends. Here in Arizona it's a time when we can maybe put on a long sleeve shirt in the even and not be too hot. That is certainly something to celebrate.
This month some of the Glitz Design Team got to do a cross promotion with Prima and I had the opportunity to make a few extra Halloween projects. Today I'd like to share one of the projects with you.
I just can resist making banners for holidays. This banner is double sided and I created one side of the banner a couple of years ago. In our old house, it hung against a wall and it didn't need anything on the other side.
Now that we are in a new house, I wanted to hang the banner in our window by our front door which meant that the banner would be seen from both sides. So, for this project, I designed the other side of the banner. (I had to photograph the banner on our door and not the window where it will be hanging because of the glare.)
The Glitz Whatnots (die cuts) and Prima trims made putting this together really fun. I just love the "more candy please" card. I was torn between putting it on the banner or saving it for a Project Life spread, but I went with using it on the banner so I could have it out and enjoy looking at it all month.
Be sure to stop by the Glitz blog for a lot more Halloween inspiration PLUS they are giving away a cool prize pack!

Pinks, Greens and Neutrals!
This week our Glitz assignment was to create a layout with a pink, green and neutral color palette. Fun, right?
This was a great challenge that pushed me to search out and find a bunch of pink and green elements that I could use on my page. The alpha stickers, arrow stickers and whatnot card were perfect for adding touches of pink and green on this page.
The background paper had large sections of pink + green, so it was a perfect starting point for the page. Since the Glitz Wild + Free line has some many lovely black and white papers, it was easy to mix in a bunch of neutral colors onto the page.
I loved using this photos of Ward and I with our friends Kent and Janet. It seems like most of my pages end up being about the kids, so it was nice to mix things up and show that the adults like to have fun too!

Playing with Marbles
Happy Thursday! Today I want to share a layout celebrating a moment when two of our kids were happily playing and imagining together. Thankfully they just kept playing while I snapped a few photos of them playing marbles on our family room floor.
These photos were taken at night and the lighting is pretty poor for photo taking in our family room, so needless to say, they weren't the best photos. To remedy the photo issue, I changed them to black and white and they were then useable pictures. Plus with the bright yellow background, I liked the contrast with the black and white photos.
This layout is up on the Glitz Designs blog today featuring the giant rhinestones. I love this embellishment! They are slightly dimensional and come with a cool variety of designs. Love that. On this page, I misted the page and then placed the rhinestones so they were scattered along with the mist.
Thanks for the visit today!

Glitz Designs Wild & Free Blog Hop
Have you seen the new Glitz Designs Wild & Free line? I'm loving all of the patterns and colors in this line. Today the Glitz Design Team is doing a blog hop featuring this fantastic new line.
I had a lot of fun putting this birthday card together. I used mists to color in little sections on the Whatnot card plus some stitching along the side.
This line is so perfect for so many different occasions and topics. I can't wait to use it again soon on another project!

In the Mood for Fall
This week on the Glitz blog we were asked to create a fall themed layout. With temperatures still over 100 degrees everyday here in AZ, I knew that I would have to look into last year's photos to find some fall inspiration! Hoping some cooler weather is just around the corner.
I decided to focus on a few of my favorite pictures that were taken during our fall break last school year when were were able to spend a few days in NYC with friends. Man, I love NYC. Feeling lucky that we got to spend some time there.
The photos were not taken the same time/day, but focused on a few of our favorite things we did while on vacation. I made sure that each of the photos included a photo of one of your kids. Just keeping things equal around here!
Have I mentioned how much I love using the Glitz Roller Doodles? It's seriously so fun getting to roll ink all around on a page!
The "fall" in the title was created with my Silhouette + my handwriting. Last year, I created this layout with fall in the title and thankfully, I'd saved my file and it was ready to use again on this page.
Want to take a look at all of our adventures while we were in NYC last fall? You can check out these posts.

Getting Messy with Misting
Using mists on my pages is one of my favorite things to so, so when our Glitz Design challenge this week was to use mists on a project, I was ready for the challenge.
One this page, I used a bit of regular mist splattering along in a few spots on the page. It's a great way to add some color and texturing to a page.
I took the top off of the mist and used the plastic end to draw on my page. The border around the photo plus the pink and turquoise colors on the triangle pieces were added by drawing mist onto the page. The mist gives a bit of a messy look and I love that!
For the triangle pattern paper, I used the cover sheet that came on the collection pack. I couldn't bring myself to cut triangles out of a bunch of different patterned papers and when I saw the cover sheet with all of the patterns together, I knew that was my solution.
This was my first page with the new Glitz Design Wild & Free line and it was so much fun to work with. The colors and patterns are going to be perfect for so many different pages.

Glitz Roller Stamps
This week on the Glitz blog we are featuring ideas using the super fun Glitz Roller Doodle Stamps. I'm not sure what it is, but rolling a wheel style stamp onto projects seems like even more fun than regular stamping.
I decided to challenge myself this week by creating a Project Life spread where I used roller doodles to design many of the sections that went into the pockets. The stamps were used on many of the sections and here's a look at every piece where a roller doodle was used.
Yes, I even rolled right onto some photos. Stazon ink is perfect for photo stamping. The stamping added some fun layering and texture to the backgrounds of the cards.
(You can click on images to make them slightly larger.) I used 5 different roller stamps on this spread. The stamps are from several different Glitz Design lines, but they work together really well.
There are some really great basic patterns that work well for any theme. That triangle roller may be my favorite.

Pantry Makeover >>> Glitz Blog hop
Hello! Welcome to the Glitz Designs August blog hop. I'm excited about this hop because it's the first time we get to feature the brand new Glitz line, Dapper Dan. I'm really loving the green and navy color combo.
We moved into a new house a few months ago and there was a great room for a pantry, but only one shelf built in. We decided that we wanted to build out the room with lots of shelves and cabinets to really maximize the space. So I decided to create a page sharing the finished pantry.
Just for fun, here's a before look at the pantry. It is really a mess. In my defense, when we moved in I knew we'd be moving everything out soon to put in the cabinets.
The Glitz Dapper Dan line has so many great element and I loved using them on this page. One of my favorites is that giant green arrow from their Whatnots and the giant rhinestone.
Plus the new alpha sheets are so cool because they include 3 fonts, 2 sets of numbers and a set of word strips. I love that so much is included on one alpha page.
