Stitch Fix - February 2015

A couple of weeks ago I had a fun delivery from Stitch Fix. Stitch Fix is a fun service that ships you clothes that you can try on and then ship back what you don't want to keep. It's a great way to freshen up my wardrobe without needing to go out and shop in a store.

What to see what came in my box...

Shaina Stitched Detail Jean

It seems like I wear the same couple pairs of jeans over and over again and when I saw these dark denim I was excited to try them on. The stitched detailing down the side of each leg won me over and I decided to keep these.

Annalisse Anorak Jacket

I made a request for a lightweight jacket that would be nice for travel and layering and I was really happy with what they sent.  The neutral army green color looked like it would be perfect for coordinating with almost anything. It was love at first touch! This jacket is just so soft. I'm not sure how much wear I'll get out of this jacket because Audrey has already borrowed it three times in the past week. I guess it's even cool enough for teenagers!

Striped Knit Tee

This shirt was fine, but I didn't think it was anything special, so it was shipped back.

Navy/White Polka Dress

The fit on this was just wrong on me. It was super baggy on the top and wasn't flattered at all. Back it went.

Navy Long Cardigan

I'd requested a black cardigan and my stylist said that she could find one for me, so she sent this navy cardigan instead. I do appreciate that they are reading my requests and doing their best to fulfill them. The cut on this just didn't feel flattering which it too bad because the fabric was super soft and comfortable. This went back too.

I think picking up two new pieces that can be staples in my wardrobe was a success! Both the jeans and the jacket were winners. Thanks, Stitch Fix!

My Stitch Fix >> April 2014

My April Stitch Fix box arrived yesterday and I was excited to dig into my box to see what came this month. It's been a couple of months since I've blogged about my Stitch Fixes because time has gotten away from me, but I made it a point to get pictures right away today so I could share.

Wondering what Stitch Fix is? You can read more about it in my post here.

I'm still loving this service. Here's my top list of why I love this service:

1. Element of surprise
2. Clothes is my size are picked out and arrive on my doorstep
3. No need to did through clothes racks at stores
4. Saves time
5. It's fun!

Okay, I have until Saturday to mail back what I don't want to keep. What should I keep and what should I send back?

Here's a look at what I saw when I opened the box. I was excited to see a cool tribal print, polkas and stripes. It looked promising.

Somerville Tribal Print Short Sleeve Top

I love the print on the front and think the mix of the solid fabric on the back adds an interesting touch. This shirt is size XS, but it's still a bit baggy. It could just the the style? So what do you think? Too baggy? Cute and keep?

Jojo Polka Dot Capri Jean

I've requested that all shorts and skirts are knee length (which is sometimes really hard to find!) and I was happy to see these meet my length requirement. But they seem to hit at an odd spot. Thinking that if I keep them I might want to cut off a couple in inches and let them be frayed at the bottom.

Callafia Short-Sleeve Wrap Dress

At first this dress had me reminiscing about wrap dresses that I owned 10+ years ago. Are they coming back in style? Did they never go out of style? What do you think? The fabric is super soft, so that's a point on the positive side.

Downing Striped Knit Shirt

Okay, this is is cute and fine. I could probably find something similar at Old Navy. Fits well and is soft. Love that. I'm on the fence on this one.

Daisy Embroidered Hem Fit and Flare Skirt

This was a favorite when I pulled it out of the box because of the cool design along the hem of this skirt. Plus it's knee length. I would pair the skirt with a different shirt if I keep it. Stitch Fix suggests pairing it with a grey tee here and that could be the perfect look for a casual day.

There you have it. My 5 items from my April Stitch Fix box. What do you think? Keep it all? Send it all back?

My Stitch Fix >>> January 2014

There is just something so fun about opening a new box of clothes delivered right to my house. I love the element of surprise that comes with every box!

After I ended up returning everything from Stitch Fix last month, I was curious to see how things went with my most recent box of goods from Stitch Fix. I'd decided that if everything went back again this month, then I was going to take some time off from Stitch Fix.

Not sure what Stitch Fix is? You can read my first post about it here.

When I opened by box, I was immediately drawn to a couple of patterns. The navy heart blouse and the coral tribal print blouse were favorites right away.

My personal rule is that I try everything on before deciding. Want to see my options?

Adelaide Silk Ruffle Overlay Sleeveless Top

I loved the soft and flowing design of this tank. This had a soft tank shell layered with silky ruffles on the front and some layering on the back too. I don't wear sleeveless tops and I played around with layering this over things. Sadly, I just didn't look right layered over things. A cardigan on top would have worked, but I felt like that would cover up most of the pretty layers on this. Sent this back.

Camelot Stripe and Polka Dot Cardigan

This is a fun and playfully designed sweater. My nine year old loved it and insisted that I should keep it. When I tried it on, it had an odd fit and I just didn't love the colors and the pattern. (Which does seem a bit odd since I love both polkas and stripes.) Sent it back.

Rilo Printed Tab Sleeve Blouse

This shirt was love at first sight and I was hopeful that it would fit well. The color + the pattern spoke to me. Thankfully, it fit perfectly and it is now happily hanging in my closet.

Lina Mini Chevron Knit Dress

This dress really is very cute, but as soon as I pulled it out of the box, I knew that it would be too short for me. I like to have dresses to my knee, so I didn't even try it on. I know, I was breaking my rule, but I knew that it for sure wouldn't work.

As soon as Audrey saw this dress, she wanted to try it on. It fit her perfectly! Before I knew it, she had worked out a deal with her dad that she would pay him for half of the dress and he would cover the other half. Cash was handed over and the dress now happily hangs in Audrey's closet. Lucky girl!

Kieraly Heart Print SHort Sleeve Blouse

I loved the navy + heart design on this shirt right away, but once I tried the shirt on it just felt a bit too big. Bummer. The short sleeves and light material would have been perfect for summer. Oh well! Sent it back.

Each Stitch Fix comes with this handy page showing all of the items in the box plus ideas on how to style them. I really like that this shows my ideas of what to put together that I probably would have thought of on my own.

There you have it! A look at my most recent Stitch Fix. A shirt for me and a dress for Audrey. I'm calling this box a success.

Stitch Fix #10

It's already time again to take a look at my most recent Stitch Fix delivery. I really do love having a box of new clothes delivered to my doorstep every month. Want to take a look at what came this month?

Under Skies Raglan Striped Knit Shirt

This shirt is cute and casual, but I have another shirt really similar to this. So, this shirt was sent back.

Bay to Baubles Metal Necklace

This necklace is fun, but just a bit too much for me. I'm more of a simple jewelry person, so I knew that this necklace wouldn't get a lot of wear if I kept it. Sent it back.

Mystree Chamberlain Striped Drape Front Cardigan & Margaret M Kayla Skinny Jeans

This photo shows two items: the sweater and the skinny jeans. My 13 year old really thought I should keep the sweater, but I just didn't think that I'd wear it enough to justify keeping it. Maybe if it had a more interesting color or print, I would have liked it more.

The skinny jeans were really cute and fit great, but they were $98. I couldn't justify spending that much on colored jeans. Don't you agree?

Both of these items were sent back.

Willow and Clay Bridgit Star Print Crew Sweater

Okay, I really wanted to like this sweater. I loved the star print. The problem was that the sweater was just too big. It's hard to tell in the picture, but it was huge. So sadly, this went back too.

So this was my first Stitch Fix where I didn't keep anything. Kind of a bummer. I guess that since it's my 10th delivery and this is the first time I didn't keep anything I'm okay with that. I'll give it another try next month and then decide if I want to keep it going.

Stitch Fix #8 >>> November

Hello! Yes, I'm still loving getting a box from Stitch Fix every month. I love that I'm not out in the mall shopping and cute clothes come to my door. Want to see what came in my box last week?

Dylan and Rose Ruthie Cross-front Side-ruched Top

Loved the burnt orange color, but thought the overall design was a little boring. I didn't like that I needed to layer a tank top under this. I don't know - nothing was really wrong with this, but I just didn't like it enough to keep it. Sent it back.

TCEC Donelle V-neck Button Up Cardigan

Okay, when I pulled this out of the box I thought that it was perfect. I really like the shade of green and that it was a longer sweater. But, sadly, when I tried it on, it just didn't fit right. I think maybe I needed a bigger size so that it would fit around my middle a little better without puckering weird. Sent it back.

Bay to Baubles Double Layered Mixed Coins Necklace

When I first saw this, I thought it might work, so I tried it on. But it was just so big and bulky around my neck. Just wasn't something that I could see myself wearing very often (if at all!) Sent it back.

Lasome Pacific Chevron Print Skirt

This was a really cute skirt, but I already have one very similar to this one. Mine is navy and white and this one is black and white, but the similarity made it so I didn't need this skirt. Sent it back.

Hawthorne Polka Dot Print 3/4 Sleeve Blouse

When I pulled this shirt out of the box, I instantly hoped it would fit right because I loved it. The classic navy + white polkas were perfect. Love the length of the sleeves and the buttons on the front of the shirt. Kept it!

Even though I only kept 1/5 of the items, I'm still very happy with this fix. I have a new shirt that  I love hanging in  my closet and I didn't spend too much since I only kept one item.

I've requested sweaters and a scarf in my next fix and I'm excited to see what they put together. Now we just need this Phoenix weather to cooperate and drop below a high of 85 degrees so I can wear that sweaters.

October Stitch Fix

Okay, I'm still loving getting a Stitch Fix box every month. I think I have something for subscriptions!

What to take a look at what came in my box?

Corrina Striped Dolman Top

When I first saw this top/sweater, I thought it was okay, but not amazing. It's my personal rule that I need to try everything on in the box, so I gave it a try. It was actually better than expected and I really liked the large cuffs on the sleeves. But I didn't like it enough to keep it, so it was a no.

Jonathan Corduroy Skinny Pant

These were really dark brown pants that were super soft. I loved the feel of the material, but they just seemed to blah! Is that really a word? Either way, I think you know what I mean. These are going back.

Harlow Plaid Button-Up Cotton Shirt

I started having flashbacks to my college days and all of my Eddie Bauer flannel shirts when I saw this. Tell me I'm not the only one who had a collection of oversized flannel shirts in a variety of colors. Anyway, I tried this on and loved how it fit plus it was a great color combo. I haven't even worn it yet and Audrey has borrowed it, so I guess it has the teenager stamp of approval. Keeping it.

Ivy Tulip Print Tabbed Sleeved Blouse

Okay, this is a great shirt, but I've now acquired a few great blouses from Stitch Fix and I'm thinking I'm good for now. They all have a similar baggy fit with tabbed sleeves. Not that I don't like it, but I just didn't need another blouse. Sending it back.

Catina Belted 3/4 Sleeve Silk Dress

Saved the best for last. Love this rich green color and how the dress fit. I paired it with some colored tights and boots and think it's a fun look. I think I might try it with a different belt rather than the fabric tie, but I'm liking it. Ward photobombed all of the pictures with the dress, so he gets to make a guest appearance on the blog today!  Keeping the dress.

I love that I don't have to do any shopping and have a mix of new clothes arrive on my doorstep. Such a cool business idea. Have you tried out Stitch Fix?

*Stitch Fix links are referral links and I receive a credit on my account if you use my link to sign up. I'm not sharing to get referrals. I really do just love this service and want to share something I enjoy.

Stitch Fix #5

Have you tried out the Stitch Fix service yet? I really do love having a beautiful box of clothes picked out for me and delivered each month. It's definitely an extra fun thing that I won't be able to do forever, but for now I'm really enjoying it. Plus, thanks to some of my readers, I've had some credit to use up thanks to people signing up with my referral link. Thank you!

This month I didn't have a camera person around (aka one of my kids) to snap a few photos of me in my stitch fix options. So I let my bedroom door model the clothes for me.

Benny Shortsleeve Coral Knit Cardigan. I was about 50/50 on this when I pull it out of the box. It was cute and I liked the style, but I wasn't sold. I tried it on over a t-shrirt and then a blouse and decided that it would be a great layering piece to have. I love that it is really lightweight so I can add a pop of color without adding much warmth. Plus I've loving that bright coral color. Keep it.

Sanctuary Smith Faux Leather Trim Pants. Honestly the words "leather trim" in the title made me very skeptical, but I kept and open mind and tried them on. After all, one of the great things about this service is that I get to try things on that I would normally skip if I was out shopping for myself. The fit was not right. They were really loose around the waist and hit at an awkward spot right above my ankles. At least I tried. Sent these back.

Jolie Printed 3/4 Sleeve Blouse. I loved the print and color of this blouse as soon as I pulled this out of the box. I layered this over a white tank top and have worn it with white jeans and denim skinny jeans. Keep it.

Bilson Pleat Detail Tabsleeve Blouse (floral) by Daniel Rainn. This shirt just had too much pleating for me. It was too big and the pattern just wasn't speaking too me. Sent it back.

Navy Cap Sleeve Blouse. This shirt was really simple and cute, but I decided against it because was limiting myself to only two items and this didn't make the cut. Sent it back.

So here's a close up look at the winning pieces from this fix. A fun extra that Stitch Fix includes with each pieces of clothing or accessories is a style card that shows example of how to wear the item. Cool!

Okay, I'm still loving this service. It does cost a $20 styling fee per box, but that is applied to your order as long as you keep one item. You can set up the price ranges and they also take requests (long sleeves, blouses, skirts only, etc.) If you decide to give Stitch Fix a try, I hope you love it as much as I do!

Stitch Fix #4

Okay, I am really loving Stitch Fix. (Haven't heard of Stitch Fix? You can read my post HERE that tells you all about it.) This month was the best delivery so far. I think it gets better with time because I get to give feedback on each piece that comes and over time the stylists learn what I like.

One nice touch is that each clothing items comes with a card attached that shows ways to wear that piece of clothes.

This time my stylist was Joseph A. and I've requested to keep him. He actually listened to my request that all of the shirts have sleeves. What to see what came this month?

Bangle Bracelets

See that set of two bracelets in the bottom right of the photo? This was the accessory that was included this time. I thought that it was fine, but didn't really plan on keeping them. (See below to find out why I ended up keeping them!) I really do like the star detailing on the red bracelet and they have a strong magnetic closure.

I'm thinking next time I will request that they skip the accessory and ask that they send a 5th clothing item instead.

Angie Delcan Crochet Inset Floral Print Top

Love the bright blue color of this shirt! It fit great and I liked that it was a little dressy, but still casual. The lacy insets adds a great detail to the top. I'm keeping it.

Hawthone Ivy Mini Dot Tab-Sleeved Blouse

I love that this shirt can be dressed up or down. I wore it with a black pencil skirt to church and thought it fit great and I loved the mini polka print.

After church, I slipped into some jeans and thought the shirt went well with those too. Got to love versatility!  My favorite detail on the shirt is a little hard to see in the picture, but there are tabs that reach around the ends of the sleeves and attach with a little button. I like how it puffs the sleeves a bit. Kept this one too!

Peppermint Ameila Mixed Print Tie-Waist Top

The mix of polka sleeves and a chevron bodice was really fun. I'd asked for shirts with fun patterns and this shirt fit the bill. Kept it!

Marigold Chambray Skirt

This was a really cute denim skirt with fun button and pocket details, but it was just too short for me. I like things down to the knee, so it didn't work for me. My 13 year old really wanted to try on the skirt and it fit her too. (A little loose, but workable.) I would have just sent it back, but after running the math, I figured that since I was keeping three shirts, it would only cost me $20 more to keep both the skirt and the bracelets because of the 25% discount that is offered if you keep everything.

I'm sure Stitch Fix has it all worked out so that people end up keeping more than planned because of the 25% discount. This is the first time I've kept everything.

So, it was a successful month from Stitch Fix! I love having new clothes arrive at my doorstep that fit and that I didn't have to walk miles at the mall to find.

Note: This post is not sponsored by Stitch Fix, I just really love their service and thought I'd share my fun with you. I do receive a credit if you use my referral link and decided to try it out for yourself.
